REPORT: Berri reiterates rejection to extension of parliament’s mandate, 1960 vote law

Speaker Nabih Berri called on Wednesday the members of the Parliament Bureau body to meet on Thursday March 9, 2017.

He also warned against the void, urging the lawmakers to intensify their meetings in order to come up with a new vote law.

This as MPs quoted Berri as saying that “the extension of the parliament’s mandate, the 1960 vote law and the void are totally rejected.”

They also quoted him as saying that work must be done in order to draft a new vote law as soon as possible.

For his part, Change and reform bloc MP Simon Abi Ramia said after meeting Berri that the latter notified him that Prime Minister Saad Hariri is not against the vote law based on the complete proportionality.
