REPORT: Children photograph everyday life at Zaatari refugee camp

Dozens of photographs of the Zaatari refugee camp were on display at an exhibition in Amman, captured by the lens of the young residents of the camp.

The exhibition, “Kids of Zaatari” showcases the work of 12 young Syrians who took part in a photography course.

The aim of the project was to replace the negative images the children were used to seeing during the war with more positive ones.

The children were able to capture aspects of everyday life in the camp, showing children playing on abandoned wheelchairs in the streets, men at work, and young women at school.

The young photographers also spent time interviewing their subject, in an attempt to provide more insight into their life in the camp.
