Bassil: Reforms are required in electoral law
Free patriotic Movement leader Minister of Foreign Affairs Gebran Bassil said on Tuesday that reforms are required in the electoral law.

Bassil’s comments were made following the Change and Reform bloc’s weekly meeting whereby he said that the country is in front of a true chance to draft a new vote law.

“We did not talk about the shift of parliamentary seats, we only called for respecting the Taef accord,” he added.

Bassil also noted that there are no differences over the holding of an extraordinary parliamentary session, adding however that the bloc refuses any prejudices to the powers of the presidency.

Lebanese leaders are still struggling to draft a new vote law that would govern the next parliamentary elections.

Deep disputes between the rival political parties have thwarted any agreement in a new electoral law.
