Mansour downplays Arab countries warning to citizens

Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Adnan Mansour, told reporters at his ministry Tuesday that the decision made by Kuwait, Qatar and the U.A.E. to issue a travel warning for Lebanon was not political in nature but temporary due to recent security tension, and asked of the media not to exaggerate in portraying news for the sake of tourism, particularly at the beginning of a much anticipated summer season.

The U.A.E., Kuwait and Qatar also issued a warning to their citizens residing in Lebanon to leave the country, following violent clashes in north Lebanon and Beirut on Sunday.

"The situation does not merit such a decision," commented Mansour on the reaction of said countries, adding that it was a mere recommendation and not a binding order to Arab nationals wishing to travel or stay in Lebanon.
