President Aoun cables condolences to Iran’s Rouhani

President Michel Aoun cabled on Wednesday his Iranian counterpart Sheikh Hassan Rouhani, expressing condolences for the victims fallen during the terrorist attacks that targeted the Iranian parliament and the shrine of Imam Khomeini.

President Aoun condemned the attacks which left behind dead and wounded, saying "they prove that terrorism has no religion, and that it strikes with no humane or religious restrictions whatsoever."

The President conveyed his condolences to the families of the victims and wished the injured speedy recovery.

Suicide bombers and gunmen attacked Iran's parliament and the Mausoleum of Ayatollah Khomeini in Tehran on Wednesday morning, killing at least 12 people in a twin assault at the heart of the Islamic Republic, Iranian officials and media said.

Islamic State claimed responsibility and released a video purporting to show gunmen inside the parliament building and one body, apparently dead, on the floor.
