General Security arrests man on charges of belonging to terrorist group
The General Security declared on Monday the arrest of a man on charges of belonging to a terrorist group and planning for security activities in Lebanon.
In a statement, the General Security said that they arrested Lebanese A.A, and during investigations, he confessed to belonging to the Jabhat Fatah al-Sham previously known as the Al-Qaeda-linked Nusra Front.
A.A also confessed to carrying out military training with former Nusra Front operative Osama Mansour.
He also confessed that Mansour informed him that he had been chosen to carry out a suicide attack, and asked him to obtain an explosive belt in preparation for the attack.
A.A agreed to the task and met several Daesh-linked terrorists through social media platforms.
The suspect was arrested before he could carry out the planned attack.
The arrested terrorist was referred to the concerned judiciary for additional investigation, while work is underway to arrest the rest of the suspects.
