REPORT: Spring supplying half of north Lebanon with drinking water polluted

The sewage pouring into the nature of Jabal Bqazoun – Izal is the main reason behind the pollution of Rachin, which supplies half of residents of north Lebanon with drinking water.

Many complaints have been submitted by Rachin municipality before the concerned authorities, calling for finding a solution for the sewage issue.

The Energy Ministry conducted a study proving that it is impossible to build in the mountain due to its rocky nature. Therefore, it advises the authorities to abstain from granting authorization to build houses and farms in the region.

The Environment Ministry issued a report calling for immediately ending the random discharge of effluents.

However, these demands have remained unheard.
