Fayez calls for steering army clear of ‘political corners’

Defense Minister Fayez Ghosn called on Friday that the LAF not be dragged into “political corners” by targeting the military institution and its work.

In a statement on the occasion of the Resistance and Liberation Day, Ghosn urged the people to rally around the army and support the Resistance.

“The events recently witnessed in Lebanon strengthened the ‘no alternative to the army’ notion; it is the first and last haven for all the Lebanese, especially since past and present experiences prove that all safe bets remain on the military institution to link the country to safety,” he added.

In his concluding remarks, the minister stressed that Lebanon’s arch enemy is Israel, which seizes each opportunity to harm Lebanon and continues to sow discord among the Lebanese.

“There is another enemy that is not less dangerous [than Israel] which is terrorism,” he added.
