Sheikh Qassem renews calls for return of Syrian refugees to safe zones in Syria

Hezbollah’s deputy-chief Sheikh Naim Qassem renewed on Saturday calls for the return of the Syrian refugees to the safe zones in Syria.

“There is an international decision to not permit the return of Syrian refugees to their homeland,” Qassem said.

“The United Nations and powerful governments are hindering the return of the Syrians,” he stressed.

“There are efforts to use the return of refugees to take some decisions against the Syrian regime,” Qassem added, saying that the return should be “voluntary.”

He also noted that the Syrian refugees suffer from poverty, diseases and tough social conditions, adding that the Lebanese people are living under “the burden of this displacement.”
