REPORT: Protesters stage sit-in against tax hike

The Kataeb party along with the civil society activists staged on Sunday a demonstration against the recently approved tax hike in Downtown Beirut.

Member of Kataeb Political Bureau Serge Dagher called on President Michel Michel Aoun to reject the tax hike.

“We are heading towards challenging the law and we will continue our battle until the end,” he added.

Last Tuesday, the Parliament endorsed a new wage scale bill that granted public sector employees a salary increase they was long demanded.

The Lebanese MPs proposed a series of taxes in order to fund the wage scale.
