Former MP Farid Haykal al-Khazen said Wednesday that “everything that has been happening regarding the sub-elections is a violation of the constitution and the law by the political authority,” stressing that the election does not require a political agreement, but it is an obligation of the interior minister to call on the electoral committees.
During a press conference, al-Khazen said that “the political forces have no right to decide whether or not the elections must be held especially when there’s a clear constitution.”
“There is no need to create excuses to prevent the elections from being held,” he stated, noting that these elections are a right for the Lebanese people.
