Nasrallah: IS says did not have kidnapped bishops, photographer Kassab in captivity

Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah delivered on Monday a televised speech whereby he touched the latest local and regional developments.

In his speech, Nasrallah noted that the Islamic State said that it did not have the kidnapped Syrian bishops or photographer Samir Kassab in captivity.

He also noted that the offensive of in the border towns was slowed to allow for more time to reveal the fate of the abducted Lebanese soldiers.

"when the Islamic State militants offered to negotiate, the first condition for Hezbollah was to reveal the fate of the abducted soldiers," Nasrallah added.

Meanwhile, he said that 11 Hezbollah fighters were killed in the battles in Syria’s western region of Qalamoun against IS militants.

He also dubbed August 28, 2017 as “the other day of Liberation, whether the Lebanese government acknowledged it or not.”

After a week-long battle, a convoy of Islamic State fighters began to depart the Syria-Lebanon border region on Monday under Syrian military escort, leaving for eastern Syria.

A ceasefire had halted the fighting in an Islamic State enclave at the border, where the militants had been battling the Lebanese army on one front and Shi'ite Hezbollah with the Syrian army on the other.
