Dr. Toufic Kasbar conducted a study published by Beit al-Mustaqbal in cooperation with the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung institution, and reported by al-Akhbar newspaper, whereby concerns were raised over the possibility of the destabilization of the banking sector, leading to a drop in the value of the Lebanese pound due to an accumulation of factors, dating back to 12 years or more, according to Kasbar.
The main factor among those listed by the author is the general fiscal policy adopted by the state, as well as the policy of Banque du Liban.
In the study and among many questions raised, Kasbar asks “why haven’t Lebanon’s central bank released figures of its transactions with banks since 2003?”
