Saudi prince buys lands in Dlebta, residents protest

Saudi Prince Muqrin Bin Bbdul Aziz bought four real estate properties of 7700 square meters in Dlebta town facing Harissa hill. The purchase took place upon the approval of the cabinet and the issuance of the order later in the official gazette.         

According to the information, the seller is one of the town’s residents who bought the properties and integrated them to one of his own before selling it to the Saudi prince.          

In this context, Dlebta residents opposed this deal which is said to be illegal and filed a complaint with the concerned authorities in order to prevent it from taking place.            

One of the residents confirmed to LBCI that Dlebta Mayor is supporting the residents in their position, noting that 500 signatures have been signed against this project.      

In turn, MP Naamtallah Abi Nasr praised the residents’ stance, saying that this kind of selling already happened in other regions.         

It is worth mentioning that 1535 foreign families, mostly Arab, bought lands in Keserwan from the year 1969 to 2004. Since then, there has been no accurate information in this matter, given that the law imposes a rate for foreign ownership of 3% in each district, not to be exceeded.
