Al-Mashnouq on 5th anniversary of al-Hassan’s assassination: Alliances change to protect the nation

Interior and Municipalities Minister Nouhad al-Mashnouq said “many things have changed since the assassination of Wissam al-Hassan,” adding that the alliances have changed in order to protect the nation.

During a ceremony held to commemorate the fifth anniversary of Brig. Gen. Wissam al-Hassan’s assassination, al-Mashnouq said that “agreement was reached with the Prime Minister Saad Hariri to head toward disassociating Lebanon from conflicts taking place in neighboring region.”

The minister declared that a street will be named after Wissam al-Hassan, stressing that “the project to build a state is still standing and will triumph.”

Al-Hassan, who was head of the ISF’s Information Branch at the time of his assassination, was killed in a car bomb attack in Beirut's Ashrafieh on October 19, 2012.

Two others, including his driver and a passerby, were killed in the blast.
