A panel of discussion was held within the conference on “Protection of Creative Media from Piracy,” concerning means to fight piracy in the fields of TV, music, creative art, advertising and cinema.
The Chairman of LBCI TV channel Sheikh Pierre El-Daher stressed during the panel that the internet opened new horizons, explaining the prospects that can be benefitted from.
Answering a question on means to fight corruption, El-Daher said that “the politicians have to stop covering for thieves.”
In this regard, he explained that a covered fugitive can be easily detected as it could take up to 10 years to arrest him although his whereabouts would be known, but when a fugitive does not have any political coverage, he could be arrested in half an hour.
For his part, Musician and Composer Osama Rahbani stressed that the state has been depriving the artists of their rights, noting that “corruption does exist.”
In turn, Lebanese author Marwan Najjar said that the Culture Ministry is nearly absent from the scene, emphasizing the importance of preserving the rights.
