Lebanese leaders react to Hariri’s resignation
Speaker Nabih Berri decided on Saturday not to cut short his visit to Egypt and to meet with Egyptian President  Abdel Fattah Sissi, and that following Prime Minister Saad Hariri’s resignation from the premiership
 
This as Minister of Justice Salim Jreissati commented on Hariri’s resignation from the premiership with a tweet.
 
Jreissati said that Hariri’s resignation is “suspicious in its timing, place, mean and content.”
 
In turn, Minister of Economy Raed Khoury said that there is no fear on the Lebanese lira, adding that the “financial, economic and security situation is stable with the presence of a strong president.”

Also, the Supreme Islamic Council voiced its surprise over Hariri’s resignation, stressing the need of the Lebanese people to remain united facing the “crucial and sensitive times that Lebanon is passing through.”

Meanwhile, the Free Patriotic Movement chose to remain silent over Hariri's resignation, calling on its ministers, MPs, leaders and partisans not to comment awaiting for the upcoming developments.
 
For his part, former minister Wiam Wahhab voiced regrets for the timing of Hariri’s resignation.
 
“Why Hariri declared his resignation from Riyadh? is he under house arrest?,” he asked via his Twitter account.
 
Also, former minister Ziad Baroud said that the resignation is considered accepted once Hariri submitted it.
 
Earlier, Prime Minister Saad Hariri submitted his resignation, saying in a televised broadcast he sensed a plot to ​assassinate him, criticizing Iran and Hezbollah.

He said a similar​ atmosphere existed in the country prevailed before the assassination of his father, late prime minister Rafic Hariri.
