Kidnapped citizen Hussam Beshrawi released

Security forces succeeded in freeing the Lebanese national Hussam Beshrawi, born in 1991, after he was kidnapped for 24 hours by unknown assailants in his town of Ras Baalback.

According to sources, Hussam Beshrawi was driving with his friends in Ras Baalback, when a girl contacted him via Facebook asking him to meet her at the crossroad at midnight Sunday. Upon his arrival in his Subaru, unknown assailants, driving a Jeep kidnapped him, leaving his car on the side of the road. Security apparatuses began their investigations and search for the abductors.

The parish’s priest, Father Ibrahim Nehmo said that the abductors called Hussam’s father and brother, and demanded USD 2 million for the release of the kidnapped. The priest added that this is a matter of blackmail.

He noted that this incident is unfamiliar to the town’s residents who belong to different sects, pointing out that the kidnapping is a violation of coexistence in the region.
