Several proposals and draft laws aiming at improving the rights of Lebanese women and protecting them from violence, sit at the parliament awaiting approval.
These draft laws include a proposal to amend the law protecting women from domestic violence, which was approved by the cabinet but not yet referred to the parliament where it will take the legislative course.
A draft law banning child marriages and fixing the marriage age of girls at 18. It was proposed by MP Elie Keyrouz and remains under discussion by the committee of administration and justice, along with a draft law proposed by MP Ghassan Moukheiber regulating marriage of minors.
Many other draft laws remain in the same situation.
