Makdissi to LBCI: Russia’s stance on Syria did not change
Syrian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Jihad Makdissi denied on Saturday any change in the Russian stance on Syria, stressing that the Syrian President Bachar Assad has the majority to make a democratic transition in Syria.

In a phone call, Makdissi told LBCI that he appreciates Russia’s position, confidence and intentions to help Syria get to safe harbor. He added that the change is not in Russia’s position but in the position of other countries that understood that the solution in Syria can only be political.

Makdissi said that there are many states supporting Syria and that the most important element is the Syrians’ support for Syria, noting that foreign opposition is rejecting the dialogue, not the Syrian authorities.
