REPORT: Kanaan says halting the funding of fake associations helps in reducing taxes

During the discussions of the 2017 budget, the Finance and Budget Committee deducted around LBP 400 billion from the budget allocated to funding the associations and cooperatives, which usually amounts to LBP 700 billion.

However, the general assembly and during the session held to pass the budget law, returned a large part of these billions to the budgets of associations, vowing to reduce by 50% the amount of LBP 700 billion in the 2018 budget, after reviewing the files of these associations in question.

According to MP Ibrahim Kanaan, reducing the budget of these associations, after ending the funding of the fake ones, will contribute to the reduction of taxes imposed on the citizens.
