The cabinet referred Thursday to the Electoral Law Committee the draft law presented by Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil pertaining to the extension of the registration deadline for the expatriate voters, adding that a decision must be issued by the committee by Monday.
On another note, the cabinet rejected the exemption of al-Ansar club from tax fees.
Following the cabinet session held at the Grand serial, Education Minister Marwan Hamadeh said that “it is shameful that they refuse the appointment of 106 forest guards while they appoint 58 honorary consuls,” adding that he proposed suspending any appointment until after the elections.
For his part, Finance Minister Ali Hassan Khalil explained that the referral of Bassil’s draft law to the concerned committee came upon the request of Prime Minister Saad Hariri.
In turn, Minister Bassil declared via Twitter that the council of ministers approved the establishment of new Lebanese University faculties in the governorates of Akkar, Baalbek-Hermel, Kesserwan-Jbeil.
