REPORT: President Aoun inks officers’ seniority decree

President Michel Aoun inked on Thursday the decree promoting officers of the army, security forces, general security, state security and customs.

The step comes one day after Aoun, Speaker Nabih Berri and Prime Minister Saad Hariri agreed to end a row over the officers’ seniority decree.

The controversial seniority decree grants one-year seniority to a number of officers who were in their first year of military training when Syrian forces toppled Aoun's military government in 1990.
