Metropolitan bishop of the Greek Orthodox Church of Antioch for the Archdiocese of Beirut Elias Audi called Sunday on the Lebanese people to return to their national duty and choose whoever they find competent to defend their rights, pointing out to the degrading economic situation, corruption, chaos and public funds waste.
In his holy sermon during Easter Sunday mass at St. Georges Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Nejmeh square, the bishop said that the people have had enough of the exchange of accusations and empty dialogues.
He stressed that the deputy’s job is very important, “but the problem in Lebanon is that the government is a minimized replica of the parliament,” expressing regret over the lack of an efficient opposition, and the circumstantial electoral alliances.
The bishop called on the Lebanese people to vote for ethics, education and honesty, and to refrain from voting for those who brokered deals, urging the people vote for women.
