Three months before the parliamentary elections, the number of applications received by the Interior Ministry for new IDs or renewal of IDs skyrocketed and the citizens complain of delay in the delivery of these IDs.
However, sources from the Interior Ministry denied reports of any delay, stressing that the ID operators have been working non-stop and with full energy.
The Interior Ministry received 20 thousand applications for IDs during the month of April, which is a very high number, and the civil status department promised to deliver these IDs to the concerned citizens before May 6.
The ministry noted that sometimes mistakes are found in the applications, or some error appear in the fingerprint, which leads to the rejection of said application and in turn the ID fails to be delivered, which is the only reason for delivery failure.
The sources stressed that the approved applications will be processed and the citizens will receive their IDs before Election Day.
