Kallas: Talks with Iran must include nuclear experts

EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said on Friday that nuclear experts must be involved in talks with Iran, warning that “otherwise, we will end up with a more dangerous Iran.”

Speaking ahead of an informal summit of EU leaders in Cyprus, Kallas said that if discussions are limited to the nuclear file without nuclear experts at the negotiating table, the result would be a weaker agreement than the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action.

She added that failing to address broader regional issues—such as missile programs, Iran’s support for proxy groups, and hybrid and cyber activities in Europe—would ultimately lead to a more dangerous Iran.
