The “Strong Lebanon” bloc declared Tuesday following a closed meeting held in Zahle that “they dealt with everyone from a standpoint of positive competitiveness,” adding that those who did not participate in the latest elections have had enough of disputes.
“We are heading towards positivity and our moto is democratic unity, not political isolation,” MP Gebran Bassil stated on behalf of the bloc.
He added that “they are proud to have among them people with a desire to achieve goals,” noting that the executive and legislative work will start once the cabinet is formed and the parliamentary committees are appointed.
The bloc stressed that including the refugee crisis in the ministerial statement is a priority, which will be handled by a committee headed by Bassil, adding that the Free Patriotic Movement will be among the main supporters of the administrative decentralization through a committee headed by MP Alain Aoun.
On the defense strategy and terrorism, Bassil pointed out that “these matters will be followed up by a committee headed by MP Chamel Roukoz, while issues related to administration and administrative reform will be the task of a committee headed by MP Michel Moawad.”
“Diplomacy and diaspora will be handled by a committee chaired by Bassil and Hagop Pakradounian, the financial and economic file will be the task of a committee headed by MP Ibrahim Kanaan, while the committee on fighting against corruption will be chaired by MP Ziad Aswad, who was provided with the required political clearance,” the bloc added.
