Assad: We want good ties with all countries, but we must know where our interests lie

Syrian President Bashar Assad said on Tuesday evening that the most important thing now is what the government will do, as “citizens do not care which region each minister represents”.

While heading the meeting of the new Syrian government, Assad said that the success or failure of any government depends on the policies and mechanisms it adopts, adding that there currently are crisis-related policies aimed at “providing basic goods amid an international and regional embargo.”

Assad stressed that Syria wants to have good ties with all countries of the world, “but we must know where its permanent interests lie”, he added. Assad concluded that during negotiations, he noticed that the West takes but does not give.
