Ten members from the municipal council of the town of Halba submitted their resignation on Thursday, the state-run National News Agency reported.
The municipal council is formed of 18 members.
The municipality is considered dissolved until the Interior Minister issues his decision regarding the resignations, after which a new date will be set to hold municipal sub-elections, in accordance with the law.
The members who resigned are Bassam al-Hallaq, Yassin Methlej, Carlos Ashkar, Osman Kaddour, Mourad Hammoud, Khaled Ibrahim, George Tadros, Geroge al-Chami, Saeed al-Halabi and Hisham al-Abdallah.
