President Michel Aoun met Saturday at Baabda presidential palace with caretaker Finance Minister Ali Hassan Khalil, where they discussed the financial and economic situation in the country, as well as the preparations underway to draft the budget 2019.
Following the meeting, Hassan Khalil noted that he briefed the president on the international reports on the monetary and fiscal situation in Lebanon, which have reflected a general stability despite the difficulties faced by Lebanon, stressing the need to hasten the cabinet formation in order follow up on the requirements of the upcoming stages.
“I reiterated our support for the president’s stance on the issue of the Syrian refugees in accordance with Speaker Nabih Berri’s position,” he stated.
Separately, the president also met with MP Simon Abi Ramia, and discussed with him the latest developments and the course of the cabinet formation process.
