Future Bloc MP Tarek El-Merhebi said on Tuesday that the Christian complex that hinders the Cabinet formation was solved, adding that the Druze complex is still existing because Caretaker Minister Talal Arslan is insisting on being represented in the new government whereas the Progressive Socialist Party leader Walid Jumblatt is refusing that.
Al-Merhebi’s comments were made during an interview with the Radio Orient radio station, whereby he stated that all the political parties have demands, adding that the Cabinet formation process depends on Prime Minister Saad Hariri who has all the authority to form the new government that he sees fits.
“I hope that the Cabinet will be formed soon,” he added.
He also stressed the necessity of respecting the political parties’ circumstances, adding that Hariri forms “the safety valve of Lebanon.”
Answering a question, Al-Merhebi stated that PM Saad Hariri is “patient,” adding however that the constitution doesn’t set a specific time for the Cabinet formation.
“A national unity government can move the country forward in order to carry on institutional work and to avoid problems, crisis and challenges,” he conclucled by saying.
