President Aoun says will call for defense strategy dialogue after Cabinet formation

President Michel Aoun said on Thursday that the Lebanese army has proved high efficiency in his victory over terrorism and in carrying out the tasks entrusted to it.

Aoun’s comments were made after meeting with US Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs in the Department of Defense Robert Karem and the accompanying delegation, in the presence of US Ambassador to Lebanon Elizabeth Richard.

Aoun voiced hopes that the "US would adopt a policy that enhances peace in the Middle East region and that would pressure Israel to stop its violations aagint the Lebanese airspace."

He also stressed that he is adamant on calling for a national dialogue to discuss the defense strategy after the Cabinet formation.

For his part, Karem said that US appreciates the efforts deployed by President Aoun in order to develop the army’s capabilities and reinforcing the ties between the two countries’ armies.
