Rai: We must protect the Lebanese along border with Syria

Maronite Patriach Beshara Rai said Sunday that Lebanon is currently going through a phase of non-confidence due to the disloyalty of some political parties and their attempts to introduce the country in regional and international axes and alliances “that were never in its favor”.

Rai added that some Lebanese forces are racing to dominate and monopolize the country’s political decision, public finances and state institutions, adding that these are the reasons behind the spread of weapons and security squares as well as the stumbling civil peace and the recurrence of assassinations attempts.

During the mass he held on Sunday in his summer residence in Dimane, Rai called on the government to spare no effort to put an end to these “anomalies”, to protect the Lebanese people living along the border with Syria through the LAF and to protect the border from any passage of illegal weapons.
