President Aoun meets with Armenian PM in Baabda

President Michel Aoun met on Saturday with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan at the Baabda Presidential Palace.

Discussions reportedly featured high over the bilateral relations between the two countries and the activation of the work the joint governmental committee to develop means of cooperation between the two countries.

Aoun praised Armenia's contribution to the UNIFIL in South Lebanon. He also highlighted the active role played by the Lebanese Armenians in their country's political and economic life, especially as they constitute a bridge of communication with Armenia.

For his part, Pashinyan thanked Aoun for welcoming him and for attending the Francophonie Summit in Yerevan, focusing on the importance of the role played by Lebanon in the Francophone Organization.

He also said that his country would continue to work within the UNIFIL to preserve security and stability in south of Lebanon, adding that the Armenian Minister of Defense will visit his country’s regiment at the Lebanese border to confirm this support.

Earlier on Saturday,l Pashinyan arrived at Beirut International Airport accompanied by Armenian First Lady along a delegation formed of Armenian Minister of Foreign Affairs and a number of Armenian officials.

Pashinyan is starting a two-day visit to Lebanon where is expected to meet with top Lebanese officials.
