Electoral silence in Koura

According to the law, the day that precedes the elections is called “electoral silence”. However, Koura witnessed a tense day, where the activists from the Lebanese Forces and the Syrian Social Nationalist Party were working hard, less than 24 hours before the sub-elections kicks off.

A cautious silence prevailed among the Koura residents, as they have made their choice from the beginning.

The town of Amioun, known as the “nationalists’ fortified castle”, seems to be comfortable as to Sunday’s results. On the other hand, residents of Kousba and Bserma say that the Lebanese Forces’ candidate will definitely win.

The Lebanese Forces say that “Koura is exclusively Lebanese”, while the nationalists say that it is oriental and secular. Conflicts and differences prevailed over the relationship between the two parties for several years.
