Caretaker Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil stressed Wednesday that Lebanon is witnessing a national crisis and needs the instruction of the Mufti of the Republic Sheikh Abdel Latif Darian.
Speaking from Dar al-Fatwa, Bassil said that “each party has said its word and raised the ceiling and despite all this optimism is increasing,” noting that the time has come to find a solution based on fair representation.
“If Hariri is the political father of the Sunnites, then the Mufti is the spiritual father of the Sunnites, and it is our duty to bring everybody together,” he added.
The minister noted that there is an issue related to the representation of a political group that needs to be handled in a way that preserves fairness.
