Caretaker Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil said that the Qataris are good investors, referring to the support provided by Doha during the Arab Economic and Social Development Summit held in Beirut last Sunday.
In an interview with CNN’s Becky Anderson, Bassil said that “Qatar is in the process of buying Lebanese bonds,” calling on others to do the same, “because it is safe and with a good return,” as he said.
“You know Lebanon and you know that we went through worse situations and we got out of them,” he added.
Answering a question about whether the tensions on the Lebanese southern borders are keeping him awake at night, the minister stated: “What is keeping me awake is the silence that is accompanying the daily Israeli breaches of our independence and sovereignty; you know that we have more than 150 air and land breaches of the 1701 UN resolution? This is what’s worrying. Why is the International Community silent about this?”
