Minister Violette Safadi to LBCI: The ministry’s name will change
Minister of State for Social and Economic Rehabilitation for Youth and Women Violette Safadi asserted on Friday that the ministry saw the light out of "a dire need."

Safadi’s comments were made during an interview with LBCI whereby she said that a new decree is being prepared to change the name of the ministry to be the Ministry of Social and Economic Empowerment of Women and Youth after the previous name sparked controversy.
 
On another note, Safadi stressed that giving the Lebanese women the right to give her nationality to her children is undeniable, stressing that she will work on empowering women and the young people.

She concluded by clarifying that she is an independent minister, adding that she will support any rightful cause.
 
Lebanon formed a new national unity government on Thursday, ending nine months of wrangling, and Prime Minister Saad Hariri said bold moves were needed without delay to address chronic problems facing the heavily indebted state.
