Australia's Queensland is on alert for more floods as weather official forecasts more rain and wind.

Images shared with Reuters showed overflowing rapids near Ross River, and streets affected by the floods on Sunday.

The Townsville Local Disaster Management group announced through a Facebook post, that all public access to the Ross River Dam has been closed for safety of the community.

Queensland's Bureau of Meteorology issued a severe warning alert on Sunday afternoon with damaging, locally destructive winds and heavy rainfall.
