Shelling over Bekayaa, 3 refugees injured in mine accidents

At a time when clashes intensify in Syria, the influx of Syrians fleeing the growing violence also increases in Lebanon. An estimated 15,000 to 20,000 Syrian refugees enter Lebanon on a daily basis through the border town of Wadi Khaled, reports say. This as final numbers of Syrian refugees in Lebanon remains unknown.

To make matters worse, the Higher relief commission has also halted all assistance to families in need, dating several months back. This as a citizen was injured in Bekayaa in Wadi Khaled during overnight shelling from the Syrian side that targeted border regions near Akkar.Three Syrian refugees also sustained severe injuries as a result of a mine explosion, and were taken to a nearby hospital.

It was reported that the shelling hit Bekayaa, eastern Dabbabiyeh and the outskirts of al-Noura town, leading to the displacement of the residents.
