No one imagined that the state’s financial documents during the 1990s would be in a situation as shameful as the one described and revealed by Finance Ministry Director General Alain Bifani, who referred to the disrespect with which the financial accounts were handled in order to justify some wrongdoings.
In a press conference held on Wednesday, Bifani hit back at former PM Fouad Siniora, accusing him, without naming him, of seeking to prevent the auditing of the state's financial transactions during his term as finance minister.
