Many Israeli leaders timed their wars on the eve of elections, using the blood of the Palestinians and the Lebanese to secure electoral and political gains.
Shimon Peres was elected Prime Minister after he waged the Grapes of Wrath war against Lebanon in 1996.
In 2000, Ariel Sharon violated the sanctity of the al-Aqsa mosque and ordered its raid, leading him to achieve a landslide victory in the elections of 2001.
Since 2006, Gaza has turned into the favorite war field for the Israeli leaders to hold their elections on its ruins.
This is how Ehud Olmert won the elections in 2006 after raiding Gaza and secured his second win in 2009, after launching Cast Lead War also on Gaza in 2008.
Pillar of Cloud is another Israeli aggression against Gaza launched in 2012 that helped Benjamin Netanyahu win the elections in 2013.
Netanyahu renewed the war scenario against Gaza in 2014, to win another election in 2015.
In 2019, the situation has changed, since all these wars failed in protecting Tel Aviv from the Palestinian missiles. On the other hand, Netanyahu is trying to win the approval of the public opinion from other angles, such as the gains he secured from the US administration, the most recent of which is the US recognition of Israeli sovereignty on the Golan Heights.
