The Maronite Bishops said Wednesday that “Lebanon’s interest lies in the appropriate handling of the Syrian refugee crisis,” hoping that consensus will be reached over the need to preserve the refugees’ dignity, while guaranteeing their return to their homeland without waiting for a political solution.
The bishops also tackled the issue of fighting corruption, noting that there is an urgent need for transparent and decisive measures to be taken by the procedural authority.
Following their monthly meeting, the bishops stressed the need to address the issue of the environmental pollution from all aspects within the framework of an integrated rescue plan.
“Environmental security is an integral part of national security,” the statement said.
On another note, the bishops condemned the US Administration’s decision regarding the Golan Heights, noting that it ignores every people’s right to return.
