Unlicensed quarries and crushers to be forced to close soon

In a country of only 10452 square kilometers, there are 750 sand quarries and rock crushers, according to the latest survey conducted by the Environment Minister with the Internal Security Forces in 2013.

The majority of these quarries are unlicensed.

The Environment Minister stressed the need to divide these quarries into three categories: those used for the production of gravel and are the most damaging, the sand quarries and the ones used to extract decorative stones.
