The agriculture lands in Tabarja turned into one big sewer, where the majority of crops drowned in wastewater.
The residents of the region said that several factors caused the sewer to flood. Some say that construction works broke a sewer pipe, while others say that a number of wastewater tankers have been lately dumping other regions’ sewage in Tabarja.
The head of the Kesserwan-Ftouh Federation of Municipalities Joan Hbeish told LBCI that “the main factor that caused this crisis is the failure to clean the sewer since more than 60 years, which led to it clogging.”
