In 2018, the government passed a budget of $18 billion, with a deficit reaching $6.3 billion.

Today, the government aims at cutting down the deficit from 6.3 to $5.3 billion.

The main burden imposed in the state’s treasury comes from salaries, wages, public debt service and the deficit in the electricity.

The salaries and wages reached 38% of the budget, between salaries and wages of current employees and wages and compensations of the retirees.

The retirees, whose number reached around 95 thousand, are distributed between military and civilian and their salaries and compensations in 2018 budget reached $2.1 billion.

A proposal in the budget draft law suggests cutting down these compensations by 11%, to reach $866 million.
