Bassil: Foreign political dependence prevents us from protecting our economy

Minister of Foreign Affairs Gebran Bassil asserted on Saturday that the country id in front of an exceptional opportunity for economic reform because of the difficult situation and the existing fear.

“We are heading towards solutions because we are afraid of financial and economic collapse, “he said during a meeting with industrialists in Jbeil.

Bassil stressed that one of the Free Patriotic Movement’s conditions to approve the Budget is to have a political commitment to some of the steps required to address the imbalance happening in the trade balance.

“What prevents us from protecting our economy and products is the foreign political dependence," he concluded by saying.
