Information Minister Jamal al-Jarrah declared that a series of measures were taken regarding the case of customs evasion, adding that the Defense Ministry has been tasked with preventing smuggling through illegal crossing points.
Following the cabinet session held to continue discussing the items of the state budget draft law, al-Jarrah stated that the next session will be held on Sunday at 9:30 pm, stressing that Finance Minister Ali Hassan Khalil distributed the legal items after being amended, so that discussions will continue on Sunday.
The minister also emphasized that a decision has been taken to make each municipality submit a list of institutions located within its municipal radius in an attempt to end tax evasion, revealing that a proposal was presented suggesting the reduction of transportation allowance for public sector employees from 8,000 to 6,000 LBP.
In turn, Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil noted after the session that the discussions were good and included not only the budget but reforms, corruption and economy.
For his part, Defense Minister Elias Bou Saab stated that Prime Minister Saad Hariri informed the ministers that issue of the measure number 3 will be finalized during a meeting for the Higher Defense Council.
Separately, while Telecommunications Minister Mohammad Choucair expected to complete the discussions on Sunday, Industry Minister Wale Abou Faour expected that the final session will be on Monday.
