Health Minister Jamil Jabak continued his participation in the 72nd session of the World Health Assembly in Geneva, where he presided over Lebanon’s delegation.
Jabak explained that the discussions he held during meetings with Arab Health Ministers, included the possibility of increasing the WHO’s contribution to the hospitalization of Syrian refugees in Lebanon. WHO currently contributed to 75% of the hospitalization rate, while the refugees themselves remain responsible to the rest of the amount, and they often are unable to pay it given their difficult conditions.
Jabak also hoped that the participation in the World Health Assembly in Geneva will lead to the development of the international partnership with the Public Health Ministry, in a bid to reduce the burdens imposed its budget by supporting the Lebanese health care system with programs and protocols that will help ensuring the needs of the Lebanese people and rehabilitating the governmental hospitals.
