President Aoun chairs security meeting in Baabda

Lebanese President Michel Aoun presided Tuesday afternoon over a security meeting at Baabda Palace to discuss the Tripoli terrorist attack.

The meeting was attended by Minister of Interior and Municipalities Raya el-Hassan, Minister of National Defense Elias Bou Saab, Army Commander General Joseph Aoun, ISF Director General Major General Imad Othman, Director of Army Intelligence Brigadier General Tony Mansour and Head of Information Branch Brigadier General Khaled Hammoud.

Aoun began the meeting by expressing his deepest condolences to the families of the fallen martyrs.

He then briefed the attendees on the details of the terrorist attack that befell the people of Tripoli and all of Lebanon on the eve of Eid al-Fitr.

Aoun stressed that confronting terrorism is a continuous task of the security and military forces, requiring vigilance and constant readiness.

He emphasized the significance of coordination, cooperation and exchange of information between the various security apparatuses, calling for intensified security monitoring of suspects and proactive action, whenever necessary.

The president also requested that exceptional security measures be taken to keep pace with the holidays and the summer season.
